Platforms

The Institut de Biologie Structurale provides access to high-tech instruments and cutting-edge know-how for structural biology studies through a number of platforms that are open to the international scientific community.

Thanks to the support and a narrow link within the research teams of the institute, the facilities enable the study of proteins ranging from gene cloning to structural and functional characterization, and include protein production, purification, crystallization and biophysical studies, including quality control.

All of the facilities are available for academic and industrial users either as fee-for-services or collaborative projects.

Confidentiality, Property & Valorisation
In all cases, standard conditions of confidentiality are ensured (dedicated and secured computer areas for each platform, confidentiality clauses for the personnel involved in the project, restricted physical access to the site, GPDR conformity for personal data etc.). If more specific conditions are needed, more precise contracts can be established between the relevant ISBG authorities and the partner.

Data produced by the platforms remain the property of the users. The methods used by the platforms remain the property of the platform, but users can request help in writing the “Materials & Methods” sections of publications.
Nevertheless every communication, oral and written, using totally or partially data from ISBG platforms, must acknowledge as follows

  • "This work used the platforms of the Grenoble Instruct-ERIC Center (ISBG : UMS 3518 CNRS-CEA-UGA-EMBL) with support from FRISBI (ANR-10-INBS-05-02) and GRAL (ANR-10-LABX-49-01) within the Grenoble Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB)."
  • By including platform people in the author list if their implication in the project goes further than a basic service.

In addition, the IBS platforms are also part of the Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB) which includes the facilities of the ESRF, EMBL and ILL (European hosts of large-scale instruments), providing tools that ensure the continuity of structural biology and biochemistry projects. Thus, the IBS represents a state-of-the-art and crucial organization within the European landscape of protein research and structural biology.

Finally, IBS platforms get an ISO 9001 quality management certification since July 2011, a key label within the IBiSA French system, and a proof of well-managed activities for all partners.
