The M4D Cellular Imaging platform grants access to four fluorescent microscopes, two Miltenyi Biotec systems for cell population statistical analysis and cell sorting, and dedicated workstations for analysis. Find below the information on different systems by clicking on one of the images.
Accessibility
Authorized users can access freely the equipment of the platform (microscope and dedicated analysis workstations), after they have validated the internal training session and accepted the conditions of use.
For more complex projects or if a specific expertise is requested (collaboration), we can provide a technical assistance for some or all of the experiments planned (observation and post-treatment).
How to make a request?
Requests are made through the online form or directly by email (see below).
Contact and localisation
The platform is located in the BSL2 rooms 547 and 156 (PALM) at IBS; the cell sorter (TYTO), at EMBL room 260.

Samples
The instruments are dedicated to fixed or living Eukaryote and Procaryote cells observation (up to level 2). Security training is mandatory to access to the room. A tissue culture room is available for users (BSL2).
Results
In general, collected raw data and analysed data are stored for one year. The platform cannot guarantee the integrity of the data stored in case of dysfunction. The user is responsible for the final storage of his/her own datasets. After one year, the data can be erased by the platform supervisors without notification.
Cost
Users are charged for the operation costs calculated per hour. Contact us for further information.
Follow-up/Valuation
The platform can help users who need technical advises (e.g. on sample preparation) or during treatment and analysis of the data.
Data produced by the platforms remain the property of the users. The methods used by the platforms remain the property of the platform, but users can request help in writing the “Materials & Methods” sections of publications.
Nevertheless every communication, oral and written, using totally or partially data from ISBG platforms, must acknowledge them and their support organisms.
General conditions for use
- Users will be allowed to access the platform only after a preliminary training. Users should follow the procedures and safety instructions handed to them. In case of obvious negligence, the user can be excluded.
- The living cells samples have to respect the safety Level L2 (max) and be in conformity with the corresponding GMO declaration.
- The compatible consumables to be used with the microscope are chargeable to the user.
- The generated data are archived for 1 year. After 1 year, the data can be deleted without further notice.
- The Platform does not guarantee the recovery of the data in case of dysfunction.
- Users should cite the platform in their publications and communicate the reference of any published article to the platform:
“We thank Rose-Laure Revel-Goyet, Oleksandr Glushonkov, Jean-Philippe Kleman (Institut de Biologie Structurale, Grenoble), and Martin Pelosse (EMBL) for the support and access to the Cell imaging Platform.”
- Users should acknowledge FRISBI et GRAL for their UAR support:
« This work used the platforms of the Grenoble Instruct-ERIC center (ISBG ; UAR 3518 CNRS-CEA-UGA-EMBL) within the Grenoble Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB), supported by FRISBI (ANR-10-INBS-0005-02) and GRAL, financed within the University Grenoble Alpes graduate school (Ecoles Universitaires de Recherche) CBH-EUR-GS (ANR-17-EURE-0003). »
- Include platform people in the author list if their implication in the project goes further than a basic service.
